Introducing JPCM’s new Surface, Interface and Atomic-scale Board members

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter has a dedicated Surface, interface and atomic-scale Editorial Board who assist with commissioning, peer-review and journal development. In 2015, Matthias Batzill and Ke He have allowed JPCM to have new and emerging fields represented on our Editorial Board.

Matthias Batzill Matthias Batzill is a tenured Associate Professor of Physics at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, USA. He has received his Diploma (MSc-equivalent) in Physics from the University of Göttingen in 1996 and his PhD from the University of Newcastle, UK, in 1999. After two post-docs at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and Tulane University in New Orleans, he joined the faculty of USF in 2006. Since 2014 he is also a Hans Fischer Fellow at the Technical University of Munich. His current research interests are mainly in oxide surfaces, photocatalysis, materials science of graphene and other 2D materials. His over 90 peer-reviewed articles received more than 700 citations in 2014 alone and his H-index is currently 28 (ISI citation index).

Ke He rke heeceived his bachelor degree from Department of Physics, Shandong University in 2000 and PhD degree from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006. After working as a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Tokyo for three years, he joined the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009 as an Associate Professor. From September, 2013, he became an Associate Professor of the Department of Physics, Tsinghua University. His main research interests in recent years have been molecular beam epitaxy growth and engineering of low-dimensional topological quantum materials for various topological quantum phenomena.
