Our latest image of the week is taken from work by Young Keun Lee et al 2016 whose special issue paper suggests that hot electrons can mediate the energy conversion process from solar energy to electrical and chemical energy. The scheme shows hot electron flow driven by surface plasmons on Ag nanowires by photon absorption on the Ag nanowires/Au/TiO2 nanodiode and the energy band diagram for hot electron detection using the Schottky nanodiode.
