This week’s image, taken from a recently published article in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, is a tilted SEM of a single self-assembled layer of polystyrene spherical crystals, used as a mask in the fabrication of an antireflection subwavelength grating on a fused silica substrate. The scale bar represents 1 μm.
The grating is deposited using two-step reactive ion etching, while the polystyrene spheres were made by emulsion polymerization.
