For the first time, a 7×7 intensity modulation of electronic band structure has been observed in the 7×7–reconstructed Si(111) surface. Sheverdyaeva et al. give an account of their research published in Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter.
Constructing a crystal structure prototype database and its applications
In a recent JPCM paper an effective structure descriptor was developed to assess the similarity between atomic structures and to remove redundant entries of similar structures in the database. Statistical data give an important insight for material discovery.
The importance of outreach
My name’s Rebecca and I love Physics. Find out why science outreach is so important and the recent outreach experience I have gained with the CDT-CMP and the Multiphoton Nanophotonics group at the University of Bath.
