It goes without saying that finding answers to questions raised by the Standard Model and General Relativity remains a huge part of theoretical physics. Recent developments in bimetric theory, a topical review published in Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical is the second most most highly cited article in the journal from 2016. Here we talk to one of the authors of the review, Angnis Schmidt-May, from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, to discover why this field is so active and what discoveries she’d like to see.

“There are plenty of new discoveries waiting for us” – an interview with Dr Thierry Dauxois
Dr Thierry Dauxois is a theoretical physicist and Director of Research of the Laboratoire de Physique at l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. We talk to him about his career, his work on long-range interacting systems and internal gravity waves and what it is he finds so appealing about the topics he studies.
The Institute of Physics: for physics, for physicists, for you
Paul Hardaker, CEO: “We know well that science benefits the economy and creates jobs. If we are to see these benefits continue to grow we need to remain competitive in funding, and both the UK and Ireland need to be the places where physicists can do world-class science.”
